Passive - Living Vengeance

Innate: When Varus kills an enemy, he gains 10% / 15% / 20% bonus attack speed as well as bonus attack damage and ability power equal to 10% of his total bonus attack speed for 5 / 7 / 9 / 11 seconds, refreshing on subsequent unit kills.

Varus also gains Living Vengeance's bonuses upon scoring a champion takedown, which empowers it for the same duration to grant him 50% bonus attack speed, bonus attack damage and ability power equal to 25% of his total bonus attack speed, and an increased attack speed cap of 3.33 . Living Vengeance's empowerment may only be refreshed by subsequent champion takedowns.

Recast: Varus fires a piercing arrow in the target direction that deals physical damage to enemies hit. The damage of the arrow as well as any detonated Blighted Quiver stacks are both increased by 0% - 50% (based on level) , and the arrow's damage is reduced by 0% / 15% / 30% / 45% / 60% .

Passive: Varus' basic attacks are empowered to deal bonus magic damage and apply a stack of Blight on-hit for 6 seconds, refreshing on subsequent applications and stacking up to 3 times. Varus' abilities detonate all Blight stacks on affected enemies hit.

Active: Varus unleashes a tendril of corruption in the target direction that infects the first enemy champion hit, dealing magic damage and root them for 2 seconds, during which they are standard sight. Over the first 1.75 seconds of the root, they are also inflicted with maximum stacks of Blighted Quiver.

Magic Damage: 150 / 250 / 350 (+ 100% AP)

Upon impact, the tendril roots into the ground from where the target was hit, seeking out nearby enemy champions that are in the immediate area. If a target does not leave the area within 2 seconds, they subsequently become infected as well, taking the same damage and effects. A new tendril is then spread out from the infected target that is closest to a nearby uninfected enemy champion. The infection can spread repeatedly until there are no new targets.

The target does not have to be to be caught by the tendril.

Oh, Varus. Look, canonically you’re kinda three people at once, so having three times the balance changes of other champions is only fair, right? We’re nerfing Varus’s lethality build as it’s the most pro-dominant ADC in the current patch. However, because on-hit Varus in bot lane is weak, we’re compensating AD on-hit Varus to keep that build afloat.

Piercing Arrow

  • Maximum base damage reduced to 80/150/220/290/360 from 80/160/240/320/400.
  • Maximum bonus AD ratio changed to 150% bonus AD at all ranks from 130/140/150/160/170%.

Blighted Quiver

  • New Effect: On-hit damage now scales with 15% bonus AD.
Patch 26.3nerf

Last patch's Varus buffs heavily overshot our target and has resulted in him becoming one of the game's strongest top laners as well. We're sorry for the inaccurate tuning and now that we've got more room to work with, we're looking to weaken his top lane performance as much as possible by rendering him more susceptible to all-ins, reducing his affinity for the top lane role quest, and weakening his top-specific build of AP and maxing W first.

Living Vengeance

This is increased to 40% bonus attack speed and bonus attack damage and ability power equal to 15% bonus attack speed upon scoring a champion takedown. While Living Vengeance's bonus is active, Varus' attack speed cap is increased to 2.7632.
  • Old Effect: When Varus kills an enemy, he gains 10/15/20% (+ 20 to 23.4% (based on level) bonus attack speed) bonus attack speed for 5/7/9/11 seconds, increased to 40% (+ 40 to 46.8% (based on level) bonus attack speed) bonus attack speed upon scoring a champion takedown.

Varus added to League of Legends

Living Vengeance (Innate)

  • On kill or assist, Varus temporarily gains attack speed. This bonus is larger if the enemy is a champion.

Piercing Arrow (Q)

  • Varus readies and then fires a powerful shot that gains extra range and damage the longer he spends preparing to fire.

Blighted Quiver (W)

  • Varus' basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight. Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage based on the target's maximum health.

Hail of Arrows (E)

  • Varus fires a hail of arrows that deal physical damage and desecrate the ground. Desecrated ground slows enemies' movement speed and reduces their healing and regeneration.

Chain of Corruption (Ultimate)

  • Varus flings out a tendril of corruption that immobilizes the first enemy champion hit and then spreads towards nearby uninfected champions, immobilizing them too on contact.
