Our few Skarner top laners have gained tremendous empathy for their solitary Brackern, as their brethren scattered and left them to become the last of their kind. By letting him cast more freely in lane while also giving him some more trading power on his bread and butter ability, we hope some of our scorpion bros will come out of hiding in top lane (and jungle too!)

Last patch's Skarner changes unfortunately landed him weaker than we had hoped and anticipated. We're now here to deliver direct buffs in order to give him the power he deserves. We were overly cautious on how much attack damage to give him, so we're back for more, and his Q isn't doing quite enough now that he can't quickly get two cycles off, so we're buffing its uptime and throughput.

Skarner is one of a few champions who’s a little weak but has a deceptively low win rate due to being quite hard to play. Still, he’s a champion who has room for buffs, so we’d like to do just that. We’re aware of his recent history with pro play, so we’re pairing these buffs with some nerfs that we hope will disproportionately affect low-ping, pro players. Our overall goal is a stronger Skarner who can sustain this new level of power for months to come. We’re nerfing Impale’s cast time to increase his counter-play for skilled opponents. As Skarner is meant to occasionally be a juggernaut, we’re increasing the viability of AD juggernaut items, specifically Sterak’s Gage, by increasing his total base AD and his overall AD scaling. And finally, to make him more approachable, we’re removing an awkward optimization around Q’s uptime with compensation that should feel similar for most players.

Threads of Vibration (Innate)
- Innate: Skarner's basic attacks on-hit, Shattered Earth, Upheaval, and Impale apply a stack of Quaking to enemies hit for 4 seconds, refreshing on subsequent applications and stacking up to 3 times. Enemies afflicted with 3 stacks take magic damage equal to 7 to 12% (based on level) of their maximum health over the duration, capped at 75 to 250 (based on level) per tick against monsters.
Shattered Earth (Q)
- Active: Skarner rips a boulder out of the ground, carrying it with his tails to empower up to three of his next basic attacks on-attack within 3.5 seconds to have an uncancellable windup, gain 25 bonus range, grant 20/25/30/35/40% bonus attack speed, and deal 10/20/30/40/50 (+ 40% bonus AD) (+ 6% of his bonus health) bonus physical damage to the target and surrounding enemies, reduced to 50% against structures. Each attack refreshes the duration.
- Skarner loses the ability to cast Upheaval if the third attack is used. Shattered Earth's duration is paused during Ixtal's Impact charge.
- The third attack ends Shattered Earth to cause Skarner to slam the rock onto the target, dealing 15% of each target's maximum health as additional bonus physical damage to enemies hit and slow them by 40% for 1.25 seconds.
- The damage based on the target's health ratio is not applied against structures and is capped at 100/175/250/325/400 against monsters. Skarner loses the ability to cast Upheaval if the third attack is used.
- Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 mana.

Upheaval (Q2)
- Active: Skarner ends Shattered Earth by throwing the boulder he picked up in the target direction, exploding upon colliding with the first enemy hit to deal 10/20/30/40/50 (+ 40% bonus AD) (+ 6% of his bonus health) (+ 15% of the target's maximum health) physical damage to enemies in the area and slow them by 40% for 1.25 seconds. Upheaval's explosion can hit structures for 50% damage. The damage based on the target's health ratio is not applied against structures and is capped at 110/195/280/365/450 (+ 40% bonus AD) (+ 6% of his bonus health) against monsters.
- Cost: No cost.
- Cast Time: 0.25 seconds, Range: 1050, Effect Radius: 300, Width: 180, Speed: 1600.
Seismic Bastion (W)
- Active: Skarner slams his claws into the ground, shielding himself equal to 9% of his maximum health for 2.5 seconds and releasing a shockwave that quickly expands in a radius around him to deal 60/90/120/150/180 (+ 80% AP) magic damage to enemies hit and slow them by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1 second.
- Skarner can move during Seismic Bastion's cast time.
- Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 mana.
- Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds.
- Cast Time: 0.3 seconds, Effect Radius: 600 / 700, Speed: 1650.
Ixtal's Impact (E)
- Active: Skarner charges forward in the direction of the cursor for up to 2.75 seconds, during which he gains slow immunity, becomes ghosted, ignores terrain collision, and has unobstructed vision of the surrounding 650 units. He automatically navigates his movement along the way and is able to steer himself with a slow turn rate that increases over time, resetting upon changing direction. Ixtal's Impact can be recast after 1 second, and does so automatically after the duration.
- Skarner begins the charge at a static amount of 150 movement speed that increases by 100 every 0.25 seconds, up to 950 total movement speed by the end of the duration. If Skarner collides with an enemy champion or large monster within 160 units, he grabs them with his claws for the time of the remaining charge, attach them to himself, suppression them, true sight them, increasing the charge's turn rate to the maximum, and gaining 300 bonus movement speed, with a minimum total of 650 and a maximum total of 1150. While the target is grabbed, they are attached to Skarner in a position that is directly in front of him. If a target has been grabbed before the first 1.75 seconds of the charge, the remaining duration is set to 1 second, and set to 0.5 seconds otherwise. The charge does not ramp up in speed while a target is grabbed.
- If Skarner's attached target collides with terrain while being held, the charge ends, detaching them from him, dealing 30/60/90/120/150 (+ 10% of his maximum health) physical damage, stun them for 1.5 seconds, and reducing Ixtal's Impact's cooldown by 35%.
- Recast: Skarner ends Ixtal's Impact. If a target has been grabbed, he detaches them from himself.
- Ixtal's Impact ends immediately if Skarner becomes immobilize, ground, or silence during the charge, detaching the grabbed target. While the target is grabbed, they are attached to Skarner in a position that is directly in front of him.
- Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana.
- Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16 seconds.
- Cast Time: None, Collision Radius: 160.
Impale (R)
- Active: Skarner winds up his stingers over the cast time, during which he is displacement immune, then lashes them forward in an isosceles trapezoid in the target direction, dealing 150/250/350 (+ 100% AP) magic damage to all enemies hit and impaling up to 3 of the closest enemy champions within the area to suppression them for 1.5 seconds. While suppressed, the targets are true sight and attach to Skarner 300 units in front of him.
- If Skarner successfully impales at least one enemy champion, he gains 40% bonus movement speed for the same duration.
- If Impale is cast during Shattered Earth, Skarner automatically casts Upheaval over no cast time and in the direction of Impale's cast. Targets are placed 200 units in the same direction at the end of the effect.
- Cost: 100 mana.
- Cooldown: 120/105/90 seconds.
- Cast Time: 0.75 seconds, Range: -50 - 625, Width: 350 / 200.

Crystal Spires (New Innate)
- Skarner's presence causes a number of Crystals to spawn. Crystals can be captured indefinitely by standing on top of them (neutral zones are unable to be captured until 1:30) granting 15 gold or 30 gold split among contributors, giving sight over the area for 1.5 seconds, and preventing recapture by the opposing team for 15 seconds. Defending champions can stand on the Crystal to prevent capture.
- While near captured Crystals or a Crystallizing Sting enemy, Skarner gains Crystal Charge, granting him 100 bonus movement speed and 48 to 160% (based on level) bonus attack speed as well as regenerating 3% maximum mana per second.

Attacking an enemy with 3 stacks consumes them to deal 20-105 bonus magic damage and stun the target for 0.5 / 0.75 / 1 seconds. After the stun, targets cannot receive Crystal Venom stacks for 6 seconds.

- Basic attacks reduce the cooldown of Crystal Slash by 0.5 seconds (doubled against champions).
- Each stack now also grants 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7% bonus movement speed (up to 3 stacks).
- Physical damage reduced to 20 / 32 / 44 / 56 / 68 (+40% bonus AD) from 25 / 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 (+80% bonus AD).
- Magical damage reduced to 20 / 32 / 44 / 56 / 68 (+20% AP) from 24 / 36 / 48 / 60 / 72 (+40% AP).
Crystalline Exoskeleton
- Cooldown reduced to 13 / 12.5 / 12 / 11.5 / 11 seconds from 16.
Fracture
- Damage reduced to 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 (+40% AP) from 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+70% AP).
- Cooldown reduced to 12 seconds from 14.
Impale
- Impale will consume all stacks of Crystal Venom and deal 50 / 75 / 100 bonus magic damage per stack consumed.

- Removed: Bonus attack speed.
- Base shield increased to 80/135/190/245/300 from 70/115/160/205/250.
- Shield AP ratio increased to 80% AP from 60% AP.
Fracture
- Cooldown increased to 14 seconds from 10.
- New Effect: Targets hit are slowed by 30/35/40/45/50% for 2.5 seconds.
- Removed: On-kill heal.
- Range increased to 1000 from 800.
- Projectile width reduced slightly.
- Projectile speed reduced slightly.
Impale
- New Effect: Target is rooted during wind-up animation (if they get out of range during it they will not be suppressed).
- Bug Fix: Sound effects will now only trigger on successful impales.

- Cooldown increased to 18 seconds from 14.

- It will no longer finish casting if the target escapes the range during the cast time.

Skarner added to League of Legends
Energize (Innate)
- Basic attacks reduce the cooldowns of Skarner's abilities by 1 second against champions and 0.5 seconds against non-champions.
Crystal Slash (Q)
- Skarner lashes out with his claws, dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies and charging himself with Crystal Energy for several seconds if a unit is struck. If he casts Crystal Slash again while empowered by Crystal Energy, he deals bonus Magic Damage and slows all targets hit.
Crystalline Exoskeleton (W)
- Skarner gains a shield and while the shield persists his movement speed and attack speed are both increased.
Fracture (E)
- Skarner summons a blast of crystalline energy which deals damage to enemies struck and marks them. Any further damage dealt to marked targets by Skarner will allow him to consume the mark to heal himself.
Impale (Ultimate)
- Skarner suppresses an enemy champion and deals magic damage to it. During this time, Skarner can move freely and will drag his helpless victim around with him. When the effect ends, Skarner's target will be dealt additional damage.
