Gnar was last buffed in Patch 25.16 (). Across 44 patches, Gnar has received 17 buffs, 8 nerfs, 18 adjustments since release in Patch 4.14.

Abilities
Rage GenePC
Passive - Rage Gene

Innate - Rage Gene: Gnar generates 4 / 7 / 11 Rage Gene over 2 seconds upon dealing or receiving damage, up to 100. Against non-champions, basic attacks and Boomerang Throw instantly generate 0.5 / 0.88 / 1.38 Rage. Against champions, Boomerang Throw instantly generates 1 / 1.75 / 2.75 Rage, and basic attacks instantly generate 2 / 3.5 / 5.5 . Boomerang Throw can only generate Rage once per cast, and grants Rage based on the first enemy hit. Gnar's Rage decays after being out of combat for 13 seconds.

At maximum Rage, Gnar's abilities switch to Mega Gnar abilities, for 4 seconds and until transforming back to his Mini Gnar form, with the exception of Hop and Crunch, which switches after the transformation. Casting any of them during this time also causes Gnar to transform into Mega Gnar instantly, else he will transform automatically after the 4 seconds have elapsed.

Gnar's Mega Gnar form lasts for 15 seconds, with his Rage bar depleting as an indication of remaining time. Rage cannot be generated while in this form. Afterwards, Gnar returns to Gnar, retaining his current percentage health and becoming too tired to generate Rage for 15 seconds.

Gnar gains different stat bonuses based on whether he is in Mini Gnar or Mega Gnar form. Both of Gnar's forms share their ability cooldowns.

Innate: Gnar gains bonus movement speed, bonus attack range, as well as 5.5% bonus attack speed attack speed.

Mega GnarPC
Passive - Mega GnarWatch

Innate: Gnar gains the following increases to his base statistics: 0 - 19.67 (based on level) base health, 0 - 19.67 (based on level) base attack damage, 0 - 19.67 (based on level) base armor, and 0 - 19.67 (based on level) base magic resistance. However, he loses 0% - 19.67% (based on level) bonus attack speed. Gnar's base stats including these bonuses are provided at the top of Gnar's gameplay article, and will appear separately as Mega Gnar on list articles.

Gnar restores health equal to the amount gained when transforming into Mega Gnar, but will only retain his current percentage health when returning to Mini form. This is unaffected by healing modifiers.

Boomerang ThrowPC
Q - Boomerang Throw

Active: Gnar throws a boomerang in a line in the target direction that deals physical damage to enemies in its path and slow them for 2 seconds. After reaching its maximum range or hitting an enemy, the boomerang flies back toward Gnar based on his current movement, dealing 50% damage to subsequent targets.

Catching the boomerang while it is returning back refunds 40% of the ability's total cooldown.

Enemies can be hit only once per pass.

Active: Gnar throws a boulder in the target direction that stops upon hitting an enemy, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies upon impact and slow them for 2 seconds. The boulder then remains on the ground for 6 seconds.

Physical Damage: 45 / 90 / 135 / 180 / 225 (+ 140% AD)
Slow: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50%

After 0.3 seconds, Gnar can pick up the boulder by moving within 90 units of it, refunding 70% of the ability's total cooldown.

HyperPC
W - Hyper

Passive: Gnar's basic attacks on-hit and ability hits apply a stack of Hyper to enemies for 3.5 seconds, refreshing on subsequent applications and stacking up to 3 times.

Bonus Magic Damage: 0 / 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 (+ 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 14% of target's maximum health) (+ 100% AP)

The third stack against a target consumes them all to deal bonus magic damage, capped at 300 against monsters, and grant Gnar % bonus movement speed that decays over 3 seconds.

Gnar gains Hyper's bonus movement speed when he leaves Mega Gnar form.

Active: Gnar slams his arm down in the target direction, dealing physical damage to all enemies struck within the area and stun them for 1.25 seconds.

Active: Gnar dash to the target location, then gains bonus attack speed for 6 seconds.

If Gnar lands on a unit he will dash 500 units further in the same direction. Landing on an enemy deals them physical damage and slow them by 80% for 0.5 seconds.

If Hop is used to transform, it will not grant bonus attack speed. Instead, after dash Gnar will send out a shockwave as per Crunch where he lands.

Gnar will not bounce if he is immobilize during the first leap.

Boomerang Throw can be cast during the dash.

Mega Gnar - Active: Gnar thrusts in the target direction, airborne nearby enemies up to 590 units in that direction, though not through terrain, and afterwards dealing them physical damage, as well as slow them by 45% after a 0.4 -second delay for a duration.

Enemies that collide with terrain take 50% increased damage immediately and are stun instantly instead of slow after a delay.

Rage Gene

  • All bonus statistics are now considered to be growth statistics and will scale non-linearly, with the exception of Mini Gnar's movement speed and attack range.
  • Mega Gnar now grants: +43 Health Growth, +2 Armor and Magic Resist Growth, +2.5 Health Regeneration Growth and +2.5 Attack Damage Growth. Mega Gnar will see a reduction of ~30 health and ~4 attack damage at level 1, but this is a buff to late game.
  • Movement speed increased to 10-30 (9 + 1/2) from 10-25 (9 + 1/0.5).

Boomerang Throw

  • Damage changed to 5 / 35 / 65 / 95 / 125 (+115% AD) from 10 / 45 / 80 / 115 / 150 (+100% AD).
  • Damage-collision width reduced to 55 from 60.

Boulder Toss

  • Damage adjusted to 5 / 45 / 85 / 125 / 165 (+120% AD) from 10 / 50 / 90 / 130 / 170 (+115% AD).

Hyper

  • Base damage changed to 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 from 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45.
  • Maximum damage to monsters increased to 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 from 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275.

Wallop

  • Cooldown changed to 15 / 13 / 11 / 9 / 7 seconds from 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8.
Patch 4.16change

GNAR!

  • Now detects collision with player created terrain (Anivia's Crystallize, Azir's Emperor's Divide, Jarvan's Cataclysm and Trundle's Pillar of Ice).
  • Fixed a bug where using GNAR! on a dashing unit would cancel their movement, but not stun them, if they hit a wall.

  • Minimum missile speed increased to 1400 from 1000.
  • Boomerang's return logic has been improved to better track Gnar.
  • Boomerang's return particles have been improved.

Boulder Toss

  • Missile speed increased to 2100 from 2000.
  • Missile width increased to 90 from 80.
  • The delay before picking up boulders off the ground reduced to 0.3 seconds from 0.5 seconds.
  • Now checks to for enemy champions that are very close to Gnar's center point when he casts (and now hits them).
  • Now deals area of effect damage in a small radius on landing if it hits no enemies.

Wallop

  • Fixed a bug where enemies could sometimes cast spells when Wallop's stun was overlapped with GNAR!'s stun.

GNAR!

  • Now has a 50% AP scaling.
  • Casting time reduced to 0.4 seconds from 0.5 seconds.
  • Fixed a bug where GNAR!'s knockback ministun (not the wall stun) would sometimes be removed too early.
