Aatrox has struggled to find a place on the Rift in the new season with split pushing on the rise and fewer chances to flex his team fighting strengths. We're giving him some additional power this patch, primarily in the jungle, where his growing audience has been kneecapped, as well as in the top lane where he could use more ways to benefit from experience. We hope this satiates Aatrox players, especially those with Endless Hunger.
Deathbringer Stance
- Health ratio increased to 4 to 10% (based on level) of target's maximum health from 4 to 8% (based on level).
The Darkin Blade
- Bonus monster damage increased to 25 from 15.
Here's a fun story: Aatrox's VGU was slated for the jungle for part of his early development before being shipped as a top laner. He's a very interesting champion with fun mechanics to play around, so we're alleviating some max-HP caps and adding some jungle juice to see how he performs in this new role.

The Darkin Blade (Q)
- Active: Aatrox swings his greatsword in the target direction, striking enemies in a line. The Darkin Blade can then be reactivated twice within 4 seconds, with the second cast refreshing the timer. The second cast strikes enemies in a cone and the third in the target area.
- Each cast deals 15/30/45/60/75 (+ 64/68/72/76/80% AD) physical damage, increasing by 25% on the second cast and 50% on the third. The Darkin Blade deals 65% to 100% (based on level) damage to minions.
- Hitting enemies at the far end of the first two casts and the center of the third deals 50% bonus damage and airborne enemies for 0.25 seconds.
- Monsters take 10% AD bonus damage and are airborne for 0.5 seconds instead.
- Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds.
Infernal Chains (W)
- Active: Aatrox smashes the ground in the target direction, creating a chain that stops on the first enemy hit, dealing 30/40/50/60/70 (+ 40% AD) physical damage, doubled against minions, and slow them for 1.5 seconds.
- If Infernal Chains hits a champion or large monster, they are chained to the impact area. If the chained enemy is still in the impact area after 1.5 seconds, they are airborne to the center and take the same damage again.
