General
- •Released March 16, 2023 (00:01 UTC).
Alistar has always been a good pick for anyone looking to tank in the support role. We want to improve the discoverability of his Headbutt Pulverize combo, so that they can show their opponents what happens when you mess with the horns.
Headbutt
- •New effect: Headbutt can now be recast to cast Pulverize when available. Pulverize will cast upon arrival.
Since our recent adjustments and additions to the Baron Lane, Garen has been struggling to keep up. To lend this noble soldier a hand, we’re buffing some of his mobility and damage mitigation. This will give Garen players some more room for skill expression and help him compete with his foes in lane.
Decisive Strike
- •Bonus movement speed increased from 30% to 35%.
Courage
- •Initial damage reduction increased from 60% to 70%.
The golden boy of Piltover has always had lots of tools at his disposal, however his heavy hammer was sometimes holding him back, so we’re reducing its cooldown. We’re also making some adjustments to Jayce’s controls for this patch. The timing on Jayce’s Shock Blast and Acceleration Gate combo can be a bit too strict for both new and experienced players, so we’re improving it’s usability for players looking to become The Defender of Tomorrow.
Shock Blast
- •New effect: Shock Blast can now be recast to cast Acceleration Gate when available. Acceleration Gate will place in front.
Transform Mercury Cannon / Transform Mercury Hammer
- •Cooldown reduced from 6 seconds to 5.
Compared to other marksmen in the Dragon Lane, Jinx is struggling to keep up and stand out. So we’re giving her some updates to help bring her more in line with her peers.
Zap!
- •New effect: Cast time is now reduced by attack speed (max 140% AS) instead of ability ranks.
Flame Chompers!
- •Root duration increased from 1.3/1.45/1.6/1.75 seconds to 1.45/1.55/1.65/1.75.
- •Cooldown reduced from 19/16/13/10 seconds to 16/14/12/10.
Recently we’ve added attack speed scaling for some of our other marksmen, so we want to bring the same to Lucian’s first ability!
Piercing Light
- •New effect: Cast time is now reduced by attack speed (max 140% AS) instead of champion level.
We’re giving this bounty hunter a bit of a mini rework this patch. We want to allow him the flexibility to be played in Mid Lane and the jungle, so we’re increasing the damage he does to monsters and adjusting how his ultimate works.
Bone Skewer
- •Damage against minions increased from 25% to 100%.
- •Damage against monsters increased from 25% to 110%.
Phantom Undertow
- •Damage against minions increased from 25% to 80%.
- •Damage against monsters increased from 25% to 110%.
Death from Below
- •New effect: Pyke now earns 110% bounty gold from any takedown in the X (max 550), with the last assisting ally earning 100% bounty gold.
When Renekton is up against opponents with extra speed or movement abilities, he struggles. So we’re improving some of his own mobility so he can keep up with his foes.
Slice and Dice
- •Cooldown reduced from 17/16/15/14 seconds to 15/14/13/12.
Seraphine’s second ability, Surround Sound hasn’t sparkled as much as we think it could. So, we’re changing how it works and making it a stack. We hope this change helps Seraphine reach an octave higher.
Surround Sound
- •New effect: Shield can now stack itself up to 2 times in addition to refreshing.
Due to all of the crowd control in Sion’s kit, he’s able to play a major role in teamfights for his team, however, he struggles to lane against some of his peers in the Baron Lane. So, we’re shifting some of the power away from his crowd control, and into some of his damage in the earlier stages of the game so he can take more duels against his foes in lane.
Decimating Smash
- •Maximum base damage increased from 65/155/245/335 to 80/165/250/335.
- •Stun duration reduced from 1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.25 (based on channel time) to 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 (based on channel time).
Soul Furnace
- •Base shield increased from 60/90/120/150 to 75/100/125/150.
Unstoppable Onslaught
- •Stun duration reduced from 0.75/1.08333/1.41667/1.75 (at level 0/1/2/3) (based on channel time) to 0.5/0.833333/1.16667/1.5 (at level 0/1/2/3) (based on channel time).
Despite our recent adjustments, Varus is still struggling compared to his peers. We’re giving him another set of buffs that will hopefully show off some of his explosive power.
Blighted Quiver
- •Health ratio per Blight stack increased from 3.5/4/4.5/5% target's maximum health to 4.5/5/5.5/6%.
Chain of Corruption
- •Base damage increased from 150/200/250 to 150/250/350.
- •AP ratio increased from 80% AP to 100%.
Players have chosen to take the red pill, and recently Rhaast has been terrorizing the Rift, while his Shadow Assassin form is nowhere to be seen. So we’re re-balancing both of these forms, and making the Shadow Assassin a little more scary to face.
The Darkin Scythe
- •Darkin heal reduced from 21 to 35% (based on level) to 18 to 32% (based on level).
- •Shadow Assassin bonus damage increased from 32 to 46% (based on level) to 38 to 52% (based on level).
Umbral Trespass
- •Base damage increased from 150/250/350 to 200/300/400.
The queen of bananas has been performing well in some ranks, but is still struggling in higher levels of play. To help Soraka players go toe to toe with some of the other supports, we’re giving her heals a little extra oomf.
Starcall
- •Total heal increased from 60/80/100/120 to 60/90/120/150.
- •Total heal AP ratio increased from 35% AP to 45%.
Astral Infusion
- •Base heal reduced from 90/130/170/210 to 70/110/150/190.
The Barbarian King hasn’t made an appearance in the Baron Lane for a while now. We’re giving him a few buffs to keep him from being strong-armed by his opponents and falling behind in the earlier and later stages of the game.
Stats
- •Attack speed growth reduced from 2.2%} to 1.2%.
Battle Fury
- •Bonus attack speed increased from 45/50/55/60% (based on Undying Rage's rank) to 55/60/65/70% (based on Undying Rage's rank).
Mocking Shout
- •Duration increased from 2.5 seconds to 3.
- •Attack damage reduction changed from 25/30/35/40% to 35% at all ranks.
- •Slow reduced from 20/30/40/50% to 15/20/25/30%.
Recently, Warwick has been spending his time lurking in the jungle, waiting for his prey to come to him, rather than trying to hunt them down. So, we’re making his fangs a little sharper so that he can have an easier time facing his foes head on outside of the jungle.
Jaws of the Beast
- •Mana cost reduced from 50/60/70/80 to 40/45/50/55.
- •Maximum damage against monsters reduced from 125/150/175/200 to 100/125/150/175.
- •Damage against minions increased from 100% to 150%.
- •New effect: The cooldown is reduced by 50% upon killing the target minion.
Blood Hunt
- •Bonus movement speed reduced from 45/50/55/60% to 40/45/50/55%.
- •Bonus attack speed reduced from 70/80/90/100% to 60/70/80/90%.
Primal Howl
- •Recast no longer ends the damage reduction.
Items
Recipe:
- •Chain Vest + Negatron Cloak + 1400 gold = 3200 gold.
Stats:
- •55 armor, 55 magic resistance.
Unique Passive - Endurance:
- •Each second in combat with champions will generate 1 stack of Endurance, which expires out of combat and stacks up to 5 times. At max stacks, you gain 30% size, 20% tenacity, and 30% bonus armor and magic resistance.
- •Limited to 1 Amaranth's Twinguard.
Recipe:
- •Chain Vest + Negatron Cloak + 1100 gold = 2900 gold.
Stats:
- •50 armor, 50 magic resistance.
Unique Passive - Lifeline:
- •If you take damage that would reduce you below 35% maximum health, you heal for 200 (+ 50% bonus health) over 3 seconds, as well as gain 50% slow resistance and 30% bonus movement speed. (90 second cooldown).
- •Limited to 1 Mantle of the Twelfth Hour.
As we mentioned, this patch we’re giving Sunfire a sibling, Searing Crown! If you want to burn your foes to a crisp and focus on dealing damage to other champions, rather than minions, Searing Crown should be your new go-to!
Recipe:
- •Bami's Cinder + Chain Vest + 500 gold = 2700 gold.
Stats:
- •50 armor, 300 health.
Unique Passive - Fiery Touch:
- •Your basic attacks and ability hits inflict a burn that deals magic damage equal to Melee 1.6% / Ranged 0.8% target's maximum health per second over 3 seconds, refreshing on subsequent hits. This deals 150% damage against minions and monsters, up to 125 damage against monsters.
- •Limited to 1 Searing Crown.
Want to clear the jungle faster when playing a tank? If so, Shimmering Spark is the right item for you! It will increase your clear speed and grant you some tankiness! Since Shimmering Spark can be combined with Sunfire Aegis or paired with Searing Crown, it will also grant you a lot of flexibility in your build path.
Cost:
- •500 gold.
Builds into:
- •Bami's Cinder.
Stats:
- •50 health.
Unique Passive - Immolate:
- •Deal 5 to 10 (based on level) magic damage per second to nearby enemies.
We’re removing the generic magic damage amplification passive on Abyssal Mask in favor of a new passive that will allow it to store a percentage of magic damage taken, which can then be released as an explosion upon enemies when you immobilize a target. Boom!
Unique passive - Abyssal
- •New passive: Taking magic damage will generate 20% of pre-mitigation damage taken as stacks of Charge for 5 seconds, refreshing on subsequent hits. Immobilizing an enemy champion will consume all Charge to deal equal magic damage in a 400-unit explosion around them.
- •Old passive: Enemy champions within 325-units take 15% bonus magic damage.
Since we're adding a new spark to the item shop, Bami’s Cinder is growing even hotter. We’re making it deal more damage, and in return increasing its price.
New Recipe:
- •Shimmering Spark + Ruby Crystal + 300 gold = 1300 gold
- •Old Recipe: Ruby Crystal + 600 gold = 1100 gold
Unique passive - Immolate
- •Damage per second changed from 5 to 20 (based on level) to 10 to 20 (based on level).
- •Editor's Note: Patch notes error writes "5 to 10 (based on level)" instead of "5 to 20 (based on level)", that value is from Shimmering Spark.
The growth rate of Bramble Vest is a bit too high. We have balanced its value in the early and late stages, making it more in line with the positioning of a second-level item, and encouraging it to upgrade to Thornmail as soon as possible.
Editor's Note:
- •Patch notes error writes Thornmail stats notes into this section, there are actually no stat changes.
Unique passive - Thorns
- •Base damage increased from 3 to 4.
- •Armor ratio reduced from 8% bonus armor to 6%.
Unique passive - Absorb
- •New passive: Taking ability damage will generate 1 stack of Steadfast for 7 seconds, which stacks up to 6 times. Subsequent hits and dealing damage against champions will refresh the stacks. At max stacks, you gain 10% bonus movement speed and 25% damage reduction from incoming magic damage.
- •Old passive: Taking ability damage will generate 1 stack of Absorb for 5 seconds, which refreshes on subsequent hits and stacks up to 5 times. Each unique ability generates 1 stack per instance. Each stack grants 6 bonus movement speed and 6 bonus magic resistance, stacking up to a maximum of 30 movement speed and 30 magic resistance.
Unique passive - Spoils of War
- •New effect: Minion health bar will glow yellow when able to execute.
- •Minion execution threshold increased from Melee 50% / Ranged 30% maximum health to 75%.
- •User kill gold changed from 120% gold to 50% + 75 gold.
- •Recharge time increased from 20 seconds to 30.
Unique passive - Tribute
- •Recharge time increased from 10 seconds to 15.
- •Gold per charge increased from 25 gold to 40 gold.
Currently, Sunfire Aegis is the only choice for tanks that want to opt into more aggressive damage against champions. However, it also serves as the only tank item that offers meaningful wave- and jungle-clearing power, which puts it in a space where it’s serving two different niches at the same time. This has always made it hard for it to be good at either thing, which is why we gave it a sibling this patch! So if you want to stick to farming it up, Sunfire should be your pick and it’s even better than before.
General
- •Total cost unchanged at 3000 gold, see notes on Bami's Cinder.
- •Combine cost reduced from 900 gold to 700 gold.
Unique passive - Immolate
- •Damage amplification per stack reduced from 8% to 7%.
Unique passive - Flametouch
- •Immolate basic attack damage reduced from 100% to 50%.
- •Immolate damage against minions increased from 115% to 175 to 250% (based on level).
- •Immolate damage against monsters increased from 115% to 130%.
As a targeted Grievous Wounds item, the Thornmail is too expensive. We lowered its price, and made its anti-injury ability more universal, so that tanks don't need to worry about too many other factors when choosing it as a means of Grievous Wounds.
General
- •Total cost reduced from 2900 gold to 2700 gold.
- •Combine cost reduced from 1000 gold to 800 gold.
