Sion was last buffed in Patch 6.1a (). Across 12 patches, Sion has received 8 buffs, 1 nerf, 3 adjustments since release in Patch 3.3.

Abilities
Glory in DeathWR
Passive - Glory in Death

Innate: Sion gains 5 bonus health whenever he kills an enemy, increased to 20 for large enemies and takedowns against champions.

Innate: Upon taking fatal damage, Sion enters stasis for 1.5 seconds to reanimate into a frenzy, fearing nearby enemies for 1 second and slowing them by 90%. He then restores 100% maximum health but loses 2 - 19 (based on level) health every 0.25 seconds, increasing by 70% of the base value per subsequent tick. His health regeneration and any incoming healing (except physical vamp) during this time is 0% effective.

Sion can only move and use his basic attacks and item actives, and empowers himself with the following effects: * 1.75 attack speed minimum and maximum * 100% physical vamp * Deals bonus magic damage on-hit equal to 10% target's maximum health, capped at 75 against monsters. * 50% reduced damage against structures. * One cast of Death Surge, which replaces all of his abilities.

Active: Sion gains 67% bonus movement speed bug that decays over 2.376 seconds. Once at least one ability has been learned, Death Surge can be cast using any ability key, even for the abilities not learned yet.

Active: Sion charges for up to 1.75 seconds to increase Decimating Smash's range over an area, knock up duration, stun duration, and damage every 0.25 seconds, which has up to a maximum bonus for the base damage and up to a 200% bonus for the scaling damage.

Decimating Smash can be recast within the duration, and automatically does so afterwards. The charge cannot be cancelled. Interruption will incur 2-second cooldown.

Recast: Sion flails his axe in the target direction, dealing physical damage to enemies hit and slowing them by 50% for 0.25 seconds. Decimating Smash deals (champion 100% \ minion 60% \ monster 120%) damage against enemies.

If Decimating Smash was charged for at least 0.75 seconds, Sion instead slams his axe down in the target direction, dealing physical damage to enemies hit, knocking up for 0.5 / 0.6 / 0.8 / 0.9 / 1 seconds, and stunning them for 1 / 1.2 / 1.5 / 1.8 / 2 seconds.

Active: Sion gains a shield lasting up to 6 seconds. Soul Furnace can be recast after 2 seconds while the shield holds, and does so automatically after the duration.

Shield Strength: 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+ 40% AP) (+ 0% maximum health)
Magic Damage: 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+ 40% AP) (+ 0.01% target's maximum health)

Recast: Sion consumes the shield to deal magic damage to nearby enemies, capped at 400 against minions and monsters.

Both casts can be activated during other abilities.

Active: Sion bellows a shockwave in the target direction that deals magic damage to the first enemy hit, slows them for 2.5 seconds and inflicts 20% armor reduction for 4 seconds.

Magic Damage: 75 / 120 / 165 / 210 (+ 55% AP)
Slow: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65%

If the target is a minion or non-epic monster, they are also stunned for 0.75 seconds and knocked back up to a maximum distance without crossing terrain, applying Roar of the Slayer's effects to enemies they pass through as well as briefly granting sight of their trajectory.

Active: Sion becomes immune to crowd control and charges forward, during which he is able to steer at a slow turn rate while automatically navigating his movement. His movement speed rapidly increases up to 928 total movement speed.

Unstoppable Onslaught can be recast after 0.4 seconds within the duration, and does so automatically after the duration.

Recast: Sion leaps forward 300 -range, landing after 0.55 seconds and slamming the ground beneath him. Sion will stop and slam upon colliding with an enemy champion or terrain during the charge. Crashing into terrain will stun Sion for 0.5 seconds.

Enemies hit by the charge are dealt physical damage. The base damage increases by 0 to 166.67 for 4% and the scaling increases by 0% / 33.3% / 66.7% / 100%.

Enemies hit by the slam are dealt the same damage and slowed for 3 seconds, turrets hit are dealt 50% damage. Enemies closer are also knocked up for 0.5 seconds then stunned for seconds seconds.

We’ve seen that Sion has been struggling in the laning phase, so we’re adjusting the damage and cost of his third ability, which should make him more of an “unstoppable force” against his lane opponents.

Roar of the Slayer

Due to all of the crowd control in Sion’s kit, he’s able to play a major role in teamfights for his team, however, he struggles to lane against some of his peers in the Baron Lane. So, we’re shifting some of the power away from his crowd control, and into some of his damage in the earlier stages of the game so he can take more duels against his foes in lane.

Decimating Smash

  • Maximum base damage increased from 65/155/245/335 to 80/165/250/335.
  • Stun duration reduced from 1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.25 (based on channel time) to 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 (based on channel time).

Soul Furnace

  • Base shield increased from 60/90/120/150 to 75/100/125/150.

Unstoppable Onslaught

  • Stun duration reduced from 0.75/1.08333/1.41667/1.75 (at level 0/1/2/3) (based on channel time) to 0.5/0.833333/1.16667/1.5 (at level 0/1/2/3) (based on channel time).

Last time we took a look at Sion, we had to say sionara to some of his unstoppable power, however we’ve been keeping an eye on him and he could use a hand. So, we’re targeting a few different areas where we think the satisfaction of his kit could be improved.

Glory in Death

  • Bonus health per large unit kill increased from 15 to 20.

Decimating Smash

  • Minimum base damage increased from 25/55/85/115 to 40/65/90/115.

Roar of the Slayer

  • Slow increased from 40/45/50/55% to 50/55/60/65%.

Bug fix:

  • Fixed an issue where under certain circumstances Sion permanently deals extra damage in the One For All mode.
Patch 3.4Nerf

Sion has been stronger and more effective in the jungle than we anticipated, and while we aren’t saying Sionara to him in the jungle, we are cutting away some of that power. We’re also smoothing out some of the bizarre interactions with Unstoppable Onslaught to make it behave more as a Sion player would expect.

  • Bonus health on large-enemies and champion takedowns reduced from 20 to 15.
