Garen has been with us from the beginning and has been the sturdy tank for every team. But this patch, we’re reforging his might in the form of a fighter. We’ve updated the maneuvering of Judgment to better suit a tanky fighter who sticks to his target, and we’re rewarding him for staying in the fight longer. For Courage, the previously hidden damage reduction has been replaced with a more visible shield, giving opponents clearer combat feedback. We’ve also improved how much Garen gains from durability stats, allowing him to better balance offense and survivability.

- AD ratio reduced from 35/40/45/50% AD to 25/30/35/40%.
- Armor reduction reduced from 25% to 15%.

- Damage reduction reduced from 80/30% (based on seconds) to 70/30% (based on seconds).
Garen has not been doing so hot in the laning phase lately. These changes will make sure he’s able to fully scale during laning phase and contribute to later team fights.
Perseverance
- Health regeneration increased from 1.2 to 4% (based on level) missing health to 2.2 to 5% (based on level).
Courage
- Duration changed from 2/3/4/5 seconds to 4 at all ranks.
- Incoming damage reduction for the first 1 second increased from 70% to 80%.
Judgment
- AD ratio increased from 30/35/40/45% AD to 35/40/45/50%.
Baron Laners these days have a wide variety of items to choose from depending on their lane match-up. This puts Garen in a tricky spot as he no longer has the early game pressure he used to exert. We’re giving him a little boost in damage to make sure his sword stays sharpened.

To keep Demacia in balance, we had to give Garen the same QOL as Darius. Garen changes will be available January 4 at 00:01 UTC.
Demacian Justice
- New effect: If during the cast time that the target becomes untargetable or exits range, the ability incurs 5 second cooldown.

- Base movement speed increased from 340 to 350.
Since our recent adjustments and additions to the Baron Lane, Garen has been struggling to keep up. To lend this noble soldier a hand, we’re buffing some of his mobility and damage mitigation. This will give Garen players some more room for skill expression and help him compete with his foes in lane.

- Initial damage reduction increased from 60% to 70%.
Since our last changes, Garen has significantly fallen off in higher levels of play. We’re going to give this golden boy some justice and revert Judgment’s damage nerf and increase the crit multiplier on it so that you’ll be rewarded more for your skillful plays.

Garen’s been able to spin his way to victory, even when he’s not building a lot of damage. We’re putting some more power into his ratios, so that Garen will have to choose between spinning and one-shotting his enemies to win or spinning and being an annoying tank to win.

- AD health ratio increased from 8% target's missing health per 100 bonus AD to 12%.
Garen's full tank build has been too consistent in terms of damage output. We are making some light changes here to shift his power more into building AD to balance out the Might of Demacia.

Garen added to Wild Rift
Despite his massive suit of armor, Garen was pretty squishy. We’re boosting his defensive stats so he can do his thing without getting his health bar blown up so quickly.
