Zed was last buffed in Patch 7.0 (). Across 17 patches, Zed has received 10 buffs, 6 nerfs, 1 adjustment since release in Patch 0.0-beta.

Passive - Contempt for the Weak

Innate: Zed's basic attacks against targets below 50% maximum health are empowered to deal 7% / 8% / 9% / 10% / 11% of the target's maximum health as bonus magic damage.

Contempt for the Weak cannot occur on the same target more than once every few seconds.

Active: Zed throws a shuriken in the target direction that deals physical damage to enemies hit, reduced to 70% against targets beyond the first.

Passive: Zed restores energy whenever he and his Shadows or multiple Shadows hit an ability on the same target. This may only occur once per cast ability.

Energy Restored: 40 / 45 / 50 / 55

Active: Zed creates a Shadow that dashes to the target location and remains there for 4.5 seconds, being able to mimic Razor Shuriken and Shadow Slash regardless of range. Living Shadow can be recast while within range of the Shadow.

Recast: Zed and the Shadow blink to swap places. If Living Shadow was recast while the Shadow is dashing, the recast will instead occur once it has been placed.

If an ability is cast while the Shadow is dashing, it will cast that ability once it has been placed.

Active: Zed slashes around himself to deal physical damage to nearby enemies, reduced to 60% against monsters, and slow targets hit for 1.5 seconds. Slashes beyond the first deal 50% damage and increase the slow by 50%.

Active: Zed becomes untargetable and, after a 0.6 -second delay, he dashes beyond the target enemy champion from his position at the end of the delay over 0.35 seconds. Afterwards, he becomes targetable again and renders the target Marked for Death for 2.8 seconds.

Physical Damage: 100% AD (+ 0.01% of damage stored)

Zed also spawns a Shadow at his casting position for 6 seconds which is able to mimic Razor Shuriken and Shadow Slash regardless of range. Death Mark can be recast after his reappearance while the Shadow is active.

Marked for Death: Zed stores a portion of all pre-mitigation physical damage and magic damage he and his Shadows deal to the target, detonating at the end of the duration to deal physical damage.

Recast: Zed and the Shadow blink to swap places.

As an assassin, Zed’s skill gap is shadow-sized, so we’re trimming his energy costs to help players get a better handle on the dark arts.

We’ve noticed in higher ranks that Zed’s jungle presence has been too oppressive due to his mobility and low cooldown on his ult. This has made it hard for his foes to confront him, so we’re reducing his jungle clear speed to rein him in as a jungler, without affecting his strength in the Mid Lane.

  • AD ratio reduced from 75% AD to 70%.
  • Subsequent hit damage reduced from 60% to 50%.

  • Armor growth increased from 4.3 to 5.
  • Health growth increased from 105 to 120.
  • Magic resistance growth increased from 1.6 to 2.

Restrained by his energy regeneration mechanism, it’s challenging for Zed to manage his lane and his enemies. We adjusted his energy consumption to help him farm better in lane.

Zed is struggling to deal with the enemy carries. We’ve tweaked his damage to make sure he remains a threat to worry about.

  • AD ratio increased from 70% bonus AD to 75%.

Zed is not doing so hot compared to other assassins, especially in the early game. We’re tweaking some of his numbers to ensure he’s keeping up.

Death Mark

The Master of Shadows has been dominating across all skill levels. We’re bringing down the strength of his early game to make it more difficult for Zed to get ahead and give him some vulnerabilities for his opponents to exploit.
