Irelia was last buffed in Patch 6.1 (). Across 18 patches, Irelia has received 9 buffs, 3 nerfs, 6 adjustments since release in Patch 2.3.

Abilities
Ionian FervorWR
Passive - Ionian Fervor

Innate: Irelia generates a stack of Ionian Fervor for each enemy champion hit by her abilities, or if she hits at least one non-champion. Stacks last for 6 seconds and stack up to 4 times, refreshing on basic attacks and ability hits against enemy champions and large monsters.

Ionian Fervor: For each stack, Irelia gains 3% - 17% (based on level) bonus attack speed, up to a maximum of 12% - 68% (based on level). At maximum stacks, her basic attacks against enemy champions and minions will deal 25 - 150 (based on level) (+ 30% bonus AD) bonus magic damage on-hit.

Innate - Unsteady: Enemy champions and large monsters hit by Flawless Duet and Vanguard's Edge initial barrage are marked as Unsteady for 5 seconds. The mark can be consumed by Bladesurge.

Active: Irelia dashes 100 units through the target enemy's location, and upon collision or arrival, she deals physical damage, applies on-hit effects, and heals herself. Bladesurge deals 150% damage against minions.

Physical Damage: 10 / 40 / 70 / 100 (+ 65% AD)
Heal: 16 / 20 / 24 / 28% AD

Bladesurge's remaining cooldown is reduced to 0.4 seconds upon collision of targets marked as Unsteady, and is reset if the target dies to or during Bladesurge's dash.

Flawless Duet can be cast during the dash.

Active - Hold: Irelia charges for up to 1.5 seconds, reducing incoming damage by 60% (+ 7% per 100 AP). The charge cannot be interrupted. Defiant Dance can be recast within the duration, and does so automatically afterwards.

Minimum Physical Damage: 20 / 35 / 50 / 65 (+ 50% AD) (+ 40% AP)
Maximum Physical Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 (+ 150% AD) (+ 120% AP)

Recast - Release: Irelia swipes in the target direction, dealing physical damage to enemies nearby and within a line, increased by 0% - 200% (based on level). She also retains the damage reduction for 0.5 seconds.

Defiant Dance's recast can be used while affected by cast-inhibiting crowd control. If Ionian Fervor would expire during the charge, it will instead refresh every 0.25 seconds for the remaining charge and be retained for 0.5 seconds after the recast is initiated.

Active: Irelia sends a blade to the target location for 3 seconds. Flawless Duet can be recast after 0.15 seconds while the blade remains, and does so automatically after the duration, though not if she is unable to cast abilities.

Magic Damage: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 (+ 80% AP)

Recast: Irelia sends a second blade to the target location. Once both blades are placed, they fly toward each other over 0.25 seconds, afterwards dealing magic damage to enemies within a line between them. Enemies hit are also stunned and revealed for 0.75 seconds.

Flawless Duet's recast can be used during Bladesurge and the cast time of Vanguard's Edge. Each of the blades' travel times are 0.25.

Active: Irelia launches a barrage of blades in the target direction that deals magic damage to enemies hit and revealing them for 1 second. Upon hitting an enemy champion, the blades explode into a wall and deal the same damage to enemies hit.

Wall Magic Damage: 100 / 225 / 350 (+ 70% AP)

The wall forms around the enemy champion hit for 3 seconds and grants sight of its surroundings. Enemies that pass through the wall for the first time are dealt magic damage and slowed by 90% for 1 second.

Patch 6.0dChange

Irelia is a dominant force in lane, especially in the hands of skilled players. However, she often struggles to find impact in mid-to-late-game teamfights. To balance this, we've reduced her early-game pressure while increasing her late-game survivability. 

Ionian Fervor

  • Base damage changed from 30 to 120 (based on level) to 10 to 150 (based on level).

Bladesurge

  • Base damage reduced from 15/45/75/105 to 10/40/70/100.
  • AD ratio increased from 60% AD to 65%.
  • Heal AD ratio changed from 19/21/23/25% AD to 16/20/24/28%.

  • Base armor increased from 40 to 46.
  • Base health increased from 650 to 690.
  • Health growth increased from 115 to 120.
  • Magic resistance growth increased from 1.6 to 2.

Irelia has been falling off in late-stage team fights. We want to make sure her blades are striking true, especially during key moments like fighting for objectives.

Our blade dancer has been underperforming on the Rift, especially in team fights where she should shine. We think these buffs to her passive and third ability will have her blades run through her enemies faster than you can say “for Ionia”!

  • Bonus damage AD ratio increased from 25% bonus AD to 30%.

Flawless Duet

  • Cooldown reduced from 13/12/11/10 seconds to 12/11/10/9.
Patch 4.3bBuff

It requires a lot of time to master Irelia’s abilities, and we want to make sure that players who have put in the time to master her can have more highlight moments in-game. So we’re buffing some of her abilities so that she can better survive during her duels.

While this Blade Dancer has been a dominant force in the jungle, she is performing below our expectations in the Baron Lane. To better balance her for both of these roles without making her irelia-vant in either, we’re reducing her jungle clear speed, while increasing the bonus magic damage she gains from maintaining maximum stacks of Ionian Fervor.

While we previously stated this Bladesurge change was going live, it actually didn’t make it into the patch. We’re fixing it for real this time… hopefully.

  • Bug fix: Applied change from V3.5. Dash now travels to the target's last location instead of current location.

The latest jungle changes have pushed Irelia’s jungle clearspeed to be far faster than we’d like, even with the monster mod on her passive, so we’re making some further adjustments.

Ionian Fervor

  • Removed: No longer deals damage against monsters.
  • Base damage increased from 10 to 66 (based on level) to 14 to 70 (based on level).
Patch 3.5Change

Irelia’s dash is a powerful tool that you can use to stick to your target, but the way that it currently follows enemy movement is over the top. We’re making Irelia’s dash function closer to how you’d expect.

Recently, Irelia has been a prominent and powerful pick across a variety of roles while also being extremely frustrating for players to play against. We’re cutting down on her burst and the duration of her soft crowd control, to bring her power down and alleviate some of the pain players have been experiencing when facing this Blade Dancer.

Vanguard's Edge

  • Slow duration reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1.
Patch 3.2aNerf

Irelia has been quietly over performing in the jungle for some time. We’re reducing the damage she deals to monsters with her passive in order to bring this Blade Dancer more in line with other junglers.

  • Damage against monsters reduced from 100% to 50%.
Patch 3.1Buff

Mastering the art of being a Blade Dancer is no easy task. And recently we’ve seen that Irelia has been dominating games in higher levels, while struggling to find her footing in lower level games. We are reducing the cooldown on her Bladesurge to make missing a reset less punishing, and granting her better scaling to make mastering her kit more accessible. To balance this change out, we’re taking away some of her early game power to make it more difficult for skilled players to dominate their lanes.

  • Cooldown reduced from 11/10/9/8 seconds to 9/8/7/6.
Patch 2.6Nerf

Irelia is a strong champion in multiple positions, and is even more powerful in the hands of skilled players. However, she's also ripping through her opponents a bit too early in the game, so we're cutting down on the base damage she gets from her passive to make it more difficult for her to brute force her way through the early game.

Vanguard's Edge

  • Bug Fix: Fixed a bug in tooltip where the wall duration was increasing with ability rank. It has always been constant at 3 seconds.
Patch 2.3bBuff

Irelia has been struggling to perform, especially in the highest levels of skill. Wild Rift has fewer minions per wave than PC does, so the Blade Dancer receives less healing in Wild Rift than she does on PC. To account for this, we are increasing her healing vs minions while also buffing her more skill expressive abilities. These changes should help her to dance around the Baron lane better.
