Jax excels at leaping into late-game fights, but he can’t hold the line for long. We’re strengthening his Grandmaster’s defense, this will give him more bonus resist scaling with AD so that offensive builds can still stand tall. This should help him stay in the fight and keep the lamp post swinging.

- Armor AD ratio increased from 40% AD to 50%.

Leap Strike

Grandmaster-at-Arms - Rework
- : Renamed from Grandmaster's Might to Grandmaster-at-Arms.
- Damage against monsters increased from 100% to 110%.
- On-hit base damage reduced from 100/140/180 to 60/110/160.
- New Active: Swings his lantern around, dealing 150/250/350 (+ 100% AP) magic damage to nearby enemies. If this hits a champion, he gains 30/50/70 (+ 40% bonus AD) bonus armor, increased by 15/20/25 (+ 10% bonus AD) per subsequent champion hit, and bonus magic resistance equal to 60% of armor gained for 8 seconds. He applies his passive on-hit every 2 stacks instead of every 3 while active.
- Old Active: For 8 seconds, Jax gains 30/50/70 (+ 50% bonus AD) bonus armor and 30/50/70 (+ 20% AP) bonus magic resistance, as well as 10% increased size.

After seeing how Jax has settled in both Baron Lane and the jungle, there’s room to give Jax some scaling power now that he’s not a dominant force in the early game.

Everyone’s favorite Grandmaster has been a menace in both the Baron Lane and jungle. Jax has been able to display early lane dominance while also scaling harder than his peers in the late game. To address this, we’re cutting back on some of Jax’s early power so we can provide his foes some more counterplay in the early game.
Stats
- Base attack damage reduced from 64 to 58.
Jax is currently over performing in the jungle, especially in higher levels of play. To combat this, we’re removing Jax’s ability to gain stacks when attacking jungle camps, while increasing the damage dealt by his Leap Strike and Empower abilities to give some power back in the Jungle, while also lending him a hand in the Baron Lane.
Relentless Assault
- Removed: No longer can stack against monsters.
- Removed: Basic attacking enemy champions or minions grants 2 stacks.
- Maximum stacks reduced from 10 to 5.
- Bonus attack speed per stack increased from 2.5/4.5/6.5/8.5% to 5 to 19% (based on level).
Leap Strike
- Base damage increased from 60/115/170/225 to 70/125/180/235.
Empower
- Base damage increased from 45/90/135/180 to 55/100/145/190.
Counter Strike
- Cooldown reduced from 14/12/10/8 seconds to 12.5/11/9.5/8.

Jax has been one of the most dominant fighters in both the Baron Lane and jungle, because of his late-game scaling. We’re toning down some of that power by reducing the attack speed he gains per stack of Relentless Assault.
Relentless Assault
- Bonus attack speed per stack reduced from 3/5.5/8/10.5% to 2.5/4.5/6.5/8.5%.
Jax has been dominating the jungle in highly skilled games. To combat this, we are scaling his passive differently to slow down his clear speed, while giving him some extra health regeneration to help his solo laning.

- Base health regeneration increased from 9 to 12.
- Health regeneration growth increased from 0.55 to 0.68.
- Editor's Note: Possible patch notes error writes new value of 0.81 instead of 0.68. This was checked on V5.1c, but there seems to be no intervening patch notes to verify the change.
Relentless Assault
- Bonus attack speed per stack changed from 3 to 11.4% (based on level) to 3/5.5/8/10.5%.
Jax has been performing well in the Jungle, but has yet to find his place in the Baron Lane. We’re shifting around his power and adding a new mechanic to Counter Strike so the Grandmaster at Arms can thrive in the Baron Lane and better survive teamfights.

- Bonus attack speed at level 1 reduced from 20% to 10%.
Relentless Assault
- New Effect: Now generates 2 stacks when attacking enemy champions or minions.
- Maximum stacks increased from 8 to 10.
- Bonus attack speed per stack reduced from 3.6 to 12% (based on level) to 3 to 11.4% (based on level).
Counter Strike
- New Effect: Now grants 25% damage reduction against champions.
Jax’s late game is feeling overly nerfed, especially when he doesn’t have access to blue buff. Giving him some mana as he grows should help allow him to scale into a persistent threat in longer games.

- Mana growth increased from 33 to 57.
Jax has been underperforming in matchups we expect him to be stronger in. Amping up his gap closing so he can snowball better, particularly in situations against squishy ranged champions.

- Target range increased from 600 to 650.
- Cooldown reduced from 9/8/7/6 seconds to 7.5/7/6.5/6.
- Base damage increased from 55/110/165/220 to 60/115/170/225.

- Base mana regeneration reduced from 15 to 12.
Jax added to Wild Rift
Jax was overwhelmingly strong with way too much damage. We are nerfing him so that he’s still a powerhouse late game, but won’t be able to 1v9 every fight.
