Blitzcrank was last nerfed in Patch 6.2h (). Across 21 patches, Blitzcrank has received 13 buffs, 4 nerfs, 4 adjustments since release in Patch 0.0-beta.

Blitzcrank is unable to move, attack, or cast Static Field while Rocket Grab is in flight.

Overdrive can be recast after 1 second within the duration.

Recast: Blitzcrank increases the bonus movement speed for 1.5 seconds, which starts decaying after 0.5 seconds to 50%.

Once Overdrive ends, Blitzcrank is slowed by 33% for 1 seconds, increased to 99% if Overdrive was recast.

Landing Rocket Grab is harder at higher levels of play, so we’re cranking up the movespeed after Overdrive’s acceleration decay.

Despite previous buffs this robot is still feeling a bit rusty, especially when compared to other tank supports. So, we’re giving him a tune up and lowering Rocket Grab’s cooldown to allow skilled Blitzcrank players to get a little more hands-on with their enemies.

After our recent upgrade to Overdrive, Blitcrank hasn’t been performing as well as we’d hoped. We’ve also noticed that Blitzcrank players feel like their attacks aren’t as snappy due to the loss of Attack Speed on Overdrive itself, so we’re giving him some extra mana and more knockups to work with.

  • Mana regeneration growth increased from 0.7 to 1.1.
  • Attack speed growth increased from 1.2% to 2.2%.

Previously, we intended to reduce Blitzcrank’s armor since we were giving him more engage potential with his updated Overdrive. Despite being in the patch notes, these changes were unintentionally not included in 3.1. We’ve seen the performance of this speedy golem without the armor nerfs and we don’t think they are necessary, so we won’t be implementing them. We’ve shown below what his current base armor is.

Blitzcrank’s Overdrive has been feeling a bit flat in Wild Rift, so we’re looking to tune up this robot with a second activation. This ability is now more in line with the sharper risk vs reward gameplay we want to see from Blitzcrank, where looking for those riskier hooks pays off more, but you still have the option to play it safe.

  • Armor growth reduced to 4.7 from 5.1.

Overdrive

  • First Cast: Blitzcrank gains 50/55/60/65% bonus movement speed for 2.5 seconds, decaying to 10% over 1.5 seconds.
  • Blitzcrank may reactivate Overdrive after 1 second.
  • Second Cast: Blitzcrank gains 140/150/160/170% bonus movement speed for 1.5 seconds, which starts decaying after 0.5 seconds to 25%.
  • After Overdrive ends, Blitzcrank becomes slowed by 33% for 1.5 second. This is increased to 99% for 2 seconds if Overdrive was recast.
  • Old Effect:
  • Active: Blitzcrank shifts into overdrive, gaining 30/40/50/60% bonus attack speed for 4 seconds and 75/80/85/90% bonus movement speed decaying over the same duration.
  • After Overdrive ends, Blitzcrank becomes slowed by 30% for 1 second.

While other tank supports have seen wins from the 2.4c buffs to Zeke’s Convergence, Blitzcrank is still performing below expectations, particularly for skilled players. We are reducing the cost and increasing the power of Blitzcrank’s mobility tool to give skilled robot pilots more room to work with.

  • Bonus movement speed increased from 70/75/80/85% to 75/80/85/90%.

Blitzcrank’s grab doesn’t instill the terror that it should, and it’s too easy to survive even when it’s well-executed. We’re increasing the damage of (1) Rocket Grab so it feels more rewarding to catch stray enemies.

Blitzcrank has been slightly underperforming for a while now, so we’re reverting some of the nerfs he received last year. These changes, combined with the recent tank item update, should give him a healthier space in the support roster.

  • Self-slow duration reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1.

You can always count on Blitzcrank to lend a hand. But lately he’s been a bit too reliable as a source of engagements for his team. We tuned his reliability down a lot so opponents can punish him when he makes a mistake.

Blitz is supposed to rely heavily on his hook to make plays, but at this point, he can just run at you even without landing a hook and still solokill your squishies.

Blitzcrank added to Wild Rift

We received a lot of feedback on Blitzcrank during Alpha, especially regarding his hook being very hard to dodge. His Rocket Grab should be a bit less punishing in lane now.

(1) Rocket Grab

  • Damage: 80/150/220/290 → 80/140/200/260
  • Missile Speed: 1600 → 1475

(2) Overdrive

  • MS Decay: Decays more quickly and then stops decaying at 10% MS at 2 seconds remaining

(Ult) Static Field

  • Passive Damage: 60/120/180 → 40/80/120
