Since the nerf to Shield of Durand, AP builds on Galio have dominated. We're aiming to bring AP Tank builds back into the spotlight. Galio’s max health now contributes more to Shield of Durand’s damage reduction, and its effectiveness has been improved at close range. Additionally, Galio can now trigger his passive more to maximize its impact. We believe these changes will give Galio greater build flexibility and help him return to his role as a true mage-slaying sentinel.
Colossal Smash
- Cooldown reduced from 5/4/3 seconds to 5 seconds at all levels.
- Base damage reduced from 15 to 190 (based on level) to 15 to 155 (based on level).
- AP ratio reduced from 50% AP to 45%.
- New effect: This ability's cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds when Galio's abilities hit at least one enemy champion or epic monster.
- Editor's Note: Patch notes error writes "each ability can only trigger this once".
- New effect: The attack gains 40% bonus attack speed.
Shield of Durand
- Initial effect radius increased from 175 to 200.
- Incoming damage reduction AP ratio reduced from 5% per 100 AP to 4%.
- New effect: Incoming damage reduction is now increased by 1% per 100 bonus health.
- New effect: Channel can now be interrupted.
- Removed: No longer deals damage against minions and monsters.
Justice Punch
- Damage against minions and monsters increased from 50% to 85%.
- AP ratio reduced from 90% AP to 80%.

- Base movement speed increased from 345 to 355.

We’re lowering Galio’s cooldowns across the board so he can better takedown his enemies or assist his teammates, whichever role you prefer!

Is it just us or is Galio a little squishy for someone literally made out of stone? We’ve buffed some base numbers for him and now hopefully he can protect his team as well as he protects Demacia!

We’ve seen Galio struggling in the current meta, so we’re reducing the cooldown on his ultimate so that he can make a grand entrance and peel for his teammates more often.

In the past, we shifted some of the damage and ratios around for Galio’s Hero’s Entrance, but we’re going back on this. We’re also making a few other changes in order to buff up tank Galio builds as we have seen them falling significantly behind the Ability Power builds recently.

- Base damage increased from 100/175/250 to 150/250/350.
- Damage AP ratio reduced from 100% AP to 70%.
We’re making it a bit easier to approach your foes while charging in with Shield of Druand and giving Galio a bit more durability so he can look to take those risker engagements.

Galio’s Shield of Durand has been reaching full strength too quickly for how powerful of an effect it is. To give his opponents some more room for counterplay, we’re increasing the charge time to access the full power of this spell, while also giving it some more damage in return.

- Minimum area of effect radius reduced from 200 to 175.
- Base damage increased from 40/70/100/130 to 40/80/120/160.
- AP ratio increased from 45% AP to 55%.
Recently Galio has been excelling in the Support role, especially when he focuses his build around tank items.We want to see him fly into the Mid Lane more often, so we’re giving him some more Ability Power on his Hero’s Entrance. This will reward Galio players who build more Ability Power with more impactful ultimates.

While Galio’s support presence was recently nerfed, we’re seeing him get stronger in mid due to the input buffering changes (how his abilities interact with Flash and Protobelt Enchant) in Patch 2.5. This time, we’re further chipping away at his ultimate to address his omnipresence and dominance in pro play.

Galio's tanky support build is performing a little too well in all skill levels which makes him an overly flexible pick. We're taking a light chip out of his (2) Shield of Durand to make playstyles that invest points in it early a little bit less effective.

- Base damage reduced from 40/80/120/160 to 40/70/100/130.
We went a bit too hard on Galio, and also discovered a bug that may have skewed our assessment of his power. We’re buffing back some things that support Galio’s tankiness, but also reverting some changes we felt had higher value in making him more fun.

- Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where it was dealing its initial damage twice.
Much like his iconic ultimate, Galio arrived with a bang and disrupted the meta significantly. We’re toning back his damage across the board, and shortening his (3) Justice Punch range based on feedback that it felt a little long.
