Ability DetailsFull kit, stats, and scaling
Deathbringer StanceWR
Passive - Deathbringer Stance

Innate: Periodically, Aatrox's next basic attack gains 50 bonus range and deals bonus physical damage equal to 4% - 13% (based on level) of the target's maximum health, capped at 50 against monsters. Aatrox heals for (100% / minion 60%) of the post-mitigation bonus damage dealt.

Aatrox's basic attacks and ability hits against at least one enemy champion or large monster reduce the cooldown by 3 seconds.

The Darkin BladeWR
Ability 1 - The Darkin Blade
CD: 12 / 10 / 8 / 6
Cast Time: 0.6
Range: Varied

Aatrox can cast The Darkin Blade three times before the ability goes on cooldown, with a 1-second static cooldown between casts. If Aatrox does not recast the ability within 4 seconds of the previous cast, it goes on cooldown.

First Cast Damage: 15 / 45 / 75 / 105 (+ 75% / 80% / 85% / 90% AD)
First Sweetspot Damage: 24 / 72 / 120 / 168 (+ 120% / 128% / 136% / 144% AD)

Active: Aatrox strikes with his blade in the target direction, dealing physical damage to enemies hit. Enemies hit within a Sweetspot of the area take 60% bonus damage and also knocked up for 0.25 seconds. Each subsequent cast increases The Darkin Blade's damage by 25%.

First Cast: Aatrox strikes a forward line, with the Sweetspot at the far end.

Second Cast: Aatrox slashes a frontal cone, with the Sweetspot at the far edge.

Third Cast: Aatrox slams a circle before him, with the Sweetspot at the center.

Infernal ChainsWR
Ability 2 - Infernal Chains
CD: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12
Cast Time: 0.25
Range: 800

Active: Aatrox sends a chain in the target direction that deals physical damage to the first enemy hit, doubled against minions, and slowing them by 25% for 1.5 seconds.

Physical Damage: 25 / 40 / 55 / 70 (+ 40% AD)
Minion Damage: 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 (+ 80% AD)
Total Damage: 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 (+ 80% AD)

If this hits an enemy champion or large monster, a revealing tether shackles them to the ground beneath for 1.5 seconds.

If the tether is not broken by the end of its duration, the target is dealt the same physical damage again and pulled to the center of the area.

Umbral DashWR
Ability 3 - Umbral Dash
CD: 8 / 7 / 6 / 5
Range: 250

Passive: Aatrox heals for a portion of the non- persistent post-mitigation damage he deals against enemy champions, increased during World Ender.

Healing: 19 / 21 / 23 / 25%
World Ender Healing: 24 / 31 / 38 / 45%

Active: Aatrox dashes in the target direction.

Umbral Dash resets Aatrox's basic attack timer and can be cast during his other abilities without cancelling them and vice versa.

World EnderWR
Ability 4 - World Ender
CD: 75 / 65 / 55
Cast Time: 0.25
Effect Radius: 500

Active: Aatrox unleashes his true form for 10 seconds, fearing nearby enemy minions and monsters for 3 seconds, during which they are gradually slowed by up to 99% over the duration. He also gains bonus movement speed that decays by 10% of the current bonus every 0.25 seconds, lasting until World Ender has ended.

Bonus Move Speed: 60 / 75 / 90%
Bonus Attack Damage: 30 / 40 / 50% AD
Increased Healing: 25 / 35 / 45%

Whenever Aatrox scores a champion takedown, he extends the duration by 5 seconds and becomes unleashed again, stacking up to the original duration.

During World Ender, Aatrox gains bonus attack damage and 5% increased size, and receives increased self-healing from all sources.

  • Sweetspot bonus damage increased from 50% to 60%.

Patch 6.0e

Change

We want to make sure that Aatrox keeps his role as a durable teamfighter. So, we’re shifting some of Aatrox’s power by toning down his mobility and, in return, amping up his sustained damage.

The Darkin Blade

  • Cooldown reduced from 13/11/9/7 seconds to 12/10/8/6.
  • AD ratio increased from 70/75/80/85% AD to 75/80/85/90%.

World Ender

  • Bonus movement speed reduced from 60/80/100% to 60/75/90%.

Patch 6.0

Buff

Stats

  • Base armor increased from 35 to 40.
  • Base health increased from 600 to 630.
  • Health growth increased from 128 to 136.
  • Magic resistance growth increased from 1.6 to 2.

Patch 4.4d

Nerf

Our recent buffs to Aatrox have made him a popular pick. But he’s been trampling through the jungle. This adjustment will bring back balance to nature.

The Darkin Blade

  • Damage against monsters reduced from 100% to 70%.

Patch 4.4a

Buff

Aatrox hasn’t been as dominant in the Baron Lane as we had hoped. With these slight buffs, he’s sure to scale into a late-game monster!

Deathbringer Stance

  • Base damage increased from 5 to 12% (based on level) target's maximum health to 5 to 15% (based on level).

The Darkin Blade

  • Base damage increased from 15/40/65/90 to 15/45/75/105.
  • AD ratio increased from 65/70/75/80% AD to 70/75/80/85%.

Patch 4.3b

Buff

Aatrox has been performing well in the jungle, but struggling in the Baron Lane. So we’re granting him some more health when he hits minions, which should give him some more sustain in lane.

Deathbringer Stance

  • Healing against minions increased from 50% to 60%.

The Darkin Blade

  • Damage against minions increased from 55% to 65%.

Patch 4.2b

Buff

Aatrox struggled to find his footing last patch and his blade is not cutting as deep as expected. We want to make sure that when the Darkin Blade is unleashed in all its grand and terrifying glory, that it strikes a deeper chord of dread in the hearts of foes, so we’re making an adjustment to its damage.

World Ender

  • Bonus attack damage increased from 20/30/40% to 30/40/50%.

Patch 4.2

Buff

Stats

  • Base movement speed increased from 345 to 355.

Patch 4.1b

Nerf

Aatrox’s late game kiting and crowd control abilities are too powerful, so we’ve come for him with our nerf blade!

The Darkin Blade

  • Cooldown changed from 13.5/11/8.5/6 seconds to 13/11/9/7.

Patch 4.0a

Nerf

Aatrox continues to see strong win rates and high ban rates. To combat this, we’re reducing the healing he gains from his World Ender, which is one of his more frustrating strengths.

World Ender

  • Healing amplification reduced from 30/45/60% to 25/35/45%.

Patch 3.5a

Nerf

The Darkin Blade is performing better than we expect for a new champion, so we’re cutting some of his power across the board.

  • Attack speed growth reduced from 2.2% to 1.2%.

Deathbringer Stance

  • Maximum damage against monsters reduced from 100 to 50.

The Darkin Blade
