UNIQUE Passive - Timeless: This item gains 10 bonus health, 30 bonus mana, and 3 ability power every minute, up to 10 times, for a maximum of 100 bonus health, 300 bonus mana, and 30 ability power. Upon reaching maximum stacks, gain a level that preserves your current experience (level cap remains the same).
UNIQUE Passive - Eternity: Restore mana equal to 10% of pre-mitigation damage taken from champions, and heal for 0 to 20 - formula=25% of mana spent, up to 20 healing per cast. Toggled abilities can only heal for up to 20 per second.

Now that the Rod of Ages craze has passed (what a great time it was), it's time for us to re-investigate how this item is performing. Ultimately, we'd like it if it was clearly good for the really mana-hungry champions out there who need to stack as many resources as possible. As such, we're playing up its scaling and mana-stacking power to make it great on that unique set of champions.

Rod of Ages’ new build path has made it overtake mage mana itemization, and as a result, its high durability has slowed down champion interactions below what we think makes for the best gameplay. We think as a whole, mages are rather balanced and we intend to ship a larger pass on mage itemization to make sure all AP items are worthy of purchasing in an upcoming patch, but right now we want to tap the newly-popular Rod of Ages to make sure bursty champions can attack more normal-sized health pools.

Toggled abilities can only heal for up to 20 per second. For every 200 healing or mana restored this way, gain 35% bonus movement speed that decays over 3 seconds.

Rod of Ages is still a bit weak after having its cost buffed and is missing the mark a bit when it comes to that classic RoA experience we all love and remember. We’re shipping some small buffs this patch aimed at the item's immediate power spike as a stat stick while also making the Move Speed more noticeable and effective. We’re also making adjustments to the Eternity passive as it's currently skewing too far towards taking damage (and restoring mana) versus casting spells (and healing).

  • Mana restored reduced to 7% pre-mitigation damage taken from 8%.
  • Heal increased to 25% of mana spent from 20%.
  • Heal cap increased to 20 from 15.
  • Health increased to 400 from 300.
  • Bonus movement speed increased to 35% from 25%.
  • Bonus movement speed duration increased to 3 seconds from 2.
  • Bonus movement speed duration at full stacks increased to 4.5 seconds from 3.
  • Bonus movement speed threshold reduced to 200 health or mana restored from 250.
  • Eternity bonus movement speed now decays by 25% of the current value (exponential) per buff update tick (every 0.264 seconds) from 35% of the current value (exponential).
  • New Effect: Eternity bonus movement speed proc buff now appears on the HUD.
  • New Effect: Healing and mana restored when at full health/mana now count towards Eternity's movement speed proc.
  • Bug Fix: Eternity's maximum heal cap now correctly increases at maximum stacks.
