Doran's Ring has been changed in 15 League of Legends patches. 4 buffs, 2 nerfs, 8 adjustments. Most recently adjusted in Patch 25.21.
The current tuning of some starter items and Second Wind can make it feel pointless to attempt to harass during lane phase, resulting in stale gameplay especially in mid lane where players don't play for kills often enough. With these changes, we're attempting to nudge back towards poke being more valuable in the lane phase.
General
- Removed Unique Passive - Restoration: Restore 1.25 mana every second. If you cannot gain mana, healing 0.55 health instead.
- New Unique Passive - Drain: Restore 1 mana every second. Dealing damage to an enemy champion increases the restoration to 2 mana for the next 5 seconds. If you cannot gain mana, healing for 45% of the value instead.

- Removed: Restoration heal is no longer equal to 45% of the mana restoration.
- Restoration heal per second reduced to 0.55 from 0.5625.
- Bug Fix: No longer unintentionally grants an extra 1.25 mana regeneration.
- On-hit damage against minions is now part of a unique passive named Helping Hand and is no longer part of Restoration.

We’re adding an incentive to Doran’s Ring for champions who want to get aggressive in lane. We still want champions to have access to mana in tough matchups, so we’re keeping the base mana regeneration relatively high—now there's just a bonus treat for dueling.
