Anathema’s Chains has been changed in 6 League of Legends patches. 4 adjustments. Removed in Patch 14.10.

Ability Haste: 20
Active - Vow: Curse the target enemy champion, designating them as your Nemesis. Choosing a new Nemesis removes the curse from the old one. Cannot be cast for 15 seconds while in combat with enemy champions.
UNIQUE Passive - Vendetta: Take 30% reduced damage from your Nemesis and reduce their tenacity by 20% while they are within cr 700 units of you.

Let's talk about pure health items, which have generally been quite ignored by players. Sometimes they just don't provide enough stats to be competitive but other times, there's just no need for more health because other items already provide a ton. We're hoping to fix up both of those areas by re-tuning pure health items and resist items in order to carve out a space for these ones. That said, we thought long and hard about Anathema's and came to the conclusion that a version of Anathema's that was strong and prevalent would be quite bad for the game. Snowballing should feel good and players should be rewarded for their success. While strong defenses (armor, health, Zhonya's Hourglass, etc.) are good, an item that specifically disempowers a targeted player and makes them weaker in all cases wasn't something we wanted to keep around.

  • Recipe: Kindlegem + Giant's Belt + 800 gold = 2500 gold
  • Stats: 650 health, 20 ability haste.
  • Unique Active - Vow: Designate an enemy champion as your Nemesis and gain 1 stack of Vendetta every 2 seconds over 60 seconds, up to 30 stacks (90 second cooldown). Can be cast while dead and at global range. Stacks reset upon choosing a new target. Cannot be cast for 15 seconds while in combat with champions.
  • Unique Passive - Vendetta: Take 1% reduced damage per stack of Vendetta against your Nemesis, up to 30% reduced damage.
  • Unique Passive - Vengeance: At maximum stacks, your Nemesis has 20% reduced tenacity while within 700 units of you.
  • Limited to 1 Anathema's Chains.
  • Caption: "She swore to dedicate her life to his destruction. The gauntlets heard."

Are you a tank? Is there an annoying enemy on the other team? Boy, do we have an item for you! With Anathema’s Chains, you can select one unlucky foe to be easier prey. Vengeance can be yours, today! On a more serious note, this item gives tanks a unique defensive advantage when sparring against a single target, while also providing offensive CC. This should be especially useful when you’re in a game where you keep encountering the same enemy (or someone you just don’t like).

  • ABILITY HASTE: 20

Effects

  • VOW (ACTIVE): Choose a Nemesis to start building a Vendetta over 60 seconds. Has global range, must be used out of combat, and can be used while dead (90 second cooldown).
  • VENDETTA: Take 1% reduced damage from your Nemesis per Vendetta stack. This damage reduction starts at 0% and stacks up to 30% over 60 seconds.
  • VENGEANCE: At max stacks, your Nemesis has 20% reduced tenacity while near you.
