Protector's Vow has been changed in 4 patches since release in Patch 1.1. 1 buff, 1 nerf, 2 adjustments. Most recently nerfed in Patch 6.3.

UNIQUE Passive - Protector: While near an allied champion, if either of you take damage from a champion, monster, or turret, then both of you gain a shield equal to 100 (+ 35% bonus health) for 1.5 seconds.
Patch 6.3Nerf

Base Stats:

New Recipe:

  • Chain Vest + Spectre's Cowl + 700 gold = 2700 gold.

Old Recipe:

  • Chain Vest + Forbidden Idol + Ruby Crystal + 400 gold = 2700 gold.
  • Ability haste reduced from 10 to 0.
  • Magic resistance increased from 0 to 40.
  • Heal and shield power reduced from 5% to 0%.
  • Health reduced from 400 to 250.

Unique Passive - Protector

  • Base shield reduced from 125 to 100.
  • Health ratio reduced from 30% bonus health to 35%.
  • New effect: Taking damage from enemy champions will reduce the cooldown by 1 second.
Patch 6.0Buff

New Recipe:

  • Chain Vest + Forbidden Idol + Ruby Crystal + 400 gold = 2700 gold.
  • Old Recipe: Chain Vest + Kindlegem + 800 gold = 2700 gold.
  • Heal and shield power increased from 0% to 5%.
  • Health increased from 350 to 400.
Patch 3.4Change

We’re significantly reducing the cooldown on Protector’s Vow to reduce its impact when it gets removed with random poke. We’re also specializing the item more by removing the Ability Power ratio and Movement speed which were low impact. In return, we’re increasing its health ratio to make the item a more attractive pick up for tanks.

Unique passive - Protector

  • Cooldown reduced from 30 seconds to 20.
  • Shield health ratio increased from 20% bonus health to 30%.
  • Removed: Shield no longer has 15% AP ratio.
  • Removed: No longer grants 20% bonus movement speed for 1.5 seconds.
  • New: Shield will prioritize lowest percent health ally before closest ally.

Protector's Vow added to Wild Rift

Removed:

  • No longer grants 10% cooldown reduction.

New effect:

  • Now grants 10 ability haste.
